Your ThoughtFarmer intranet homepage includes personalized news and links meant just for you. When you log into the intranet and view the homepage, you'll see your own profile widget, links and news from the groups that you're a member of and your own list of intranet favorites. Nobody sees the same homepage that you see and your homepage aims to help you do your job more easily.
The "Directory" tab shows the entire site in an expandable "tree" navigation view. Click the arrow next to a page title to expand the list of sub-pages; you can drill down into the navigation and click a link to go directly to a page.
The "Your groups" tab shows a list of the groups you're a member of and your profile page. Click the arrow next to a page title to expand the list of sub-pages; you can go directly to any page in any of your groups with just a click. (See complete instructions on how to set up Groups.)
Where: Left, middle
If your intranet administrator has enabled them, RSS feeds will display in the left-hand column of the page just below the "Directory" and "Groups" tabs. RSS feeds show news headlines from other sections of the intranet or from external web pages. (See complete instructions on how to use RSS feeds
Where: Left, bottom
If your intranet administrator has enabled them, you will see quotes at the bottom of the left-hand column of the homepage. All employees can add their own favorite famous quote and you will see a random selection every time you visit the homepage.
To add a new quote or see a list of all quotes click "View more quotes" below the quote on the homepage. On the quotes page type in the new quote and the author and click "Add."

If your intranet administrator has enabled it, you will see some sort of text or photos at the top middle of the page, just below the global navigation bar. The intranet administrator can fill this section with links to important announcements or frequently accessed pages. If this is not enabled, you'll just see the homepage news feed at the top middle of the page.
Homepage news feed (personalized)
Where: Center, middle
Your homepage news feed will display in the main center section of the homepage. Included in this feed are both news stories targeted at all employees and personalized news stories just for you. The personalized stories are fed by the group pages you are a member of. (See a complete set of instructions and explanations of news

Don't see the homepage news?The homepage news feed may show in the left-hand column of the page if your intranet administrator has set the site directory to show in the middle of the page instead.
Recent activity (personalized)
Where: Center, bottom
At the bottom of your intranet homepage see the "Recent activity" section, with three different tabs:
Your groups: All recent page edits, file attachments and comments within the groups you are a member of.
Status updates: A list of status updates from all employees. (Learn how to use status updates.)
All site activity: All recent edits, attachments and comments from all over the intranet.
The "Status updates" and "All site activity" feeds are like the proverbial water cooler or coffee room in an office. Just as you may discover a useful conversation in the coffee room without planning to, so too you can learn about useful changes on the intranet or interesting activities in the company by browsing recent activity. Just call it "serendipitous connection!"
Profile widget (personalized)
Where: Right, top
In the upper right-hand section of the homepage you'll see your profile widget, which includes these features:
View a thumbnail of your profile photo (if you've uploaded one).
Go to your profile by clicking on your name or photo.
Edit your profile with one click by clicking the "Edit profile" link.
Update your status by clicking on your current status, typing in a new status and hitting "Enter" on your keyboard.

Favorites list (personalized)

In the middle of the right-hand column of the page you'll find your list of intranet favorites. With just one click from the homepage you can access any page on the intranet that you've added to your favorites. If you haven't yet added any pages to your favorites you won't see anything listed here on the homepage. But it's a breeze to add an intranet page to your favorites. Where: Right, bottom
If your intranet administrator has enabled it, you will see a quick poll at the bottom of the right-hand column of the homepage. The intranet administrator can add new polls and your answers will always be anonymous. Once you vote in a poll you'll immediately see the overall results.
If your intranet administrator has allowed it, you can create new polls too!To create a new poll or view past polls, click on "View past polls" at the bottom of the Poll box. On the polls page, Click "Add poll" on the top right to add a new poll.In the "Title" field, type your poll question.In the "Responses" field, type an answer for your poll, and click "Add response". Do that again to add more responses for your poll. Then click "Publish" to start polling!
