Intranet Tip: Notify Intranet Users about System Outages

In brief: Central1’s system status indicator informs intranet users when services are down

Central1 provides trade services to credit unions in BC. Previously, IT and Comms teams were flooded with calls when technical systems went down. To streamline their response, they created a system status indicator for their intranet home page. It displays green if “all systems are go.” If there is a scheduled, partial or full outage those systems are displayed as unavailable. The indicator reduces uncertainty and stress by informing users right away when the phones aren’t working or internet is down.
